Each year, tourism and hospitality workers make 9 million visitors to Vancouver feel welcome in our city.

We are the friendly faces and helping hands at the forefront of a $4 billion dollar tourism and hospitality industry. We’re proud to make a vital contribution to Vancouver’s economic, social, and cultural life.

We believe every tourism worker has the right to a good job and the benefits of economic growth. UNITE HERE works with members and non-members, organizations, and the public to make this vision a reality.

Unfortunately, Vancouver has among the world’s least affordable housing, and this reality forces tourism workers to live further away from where we work. Commuting costs make up an increasing portion of daily expenses.

That’s why in 2014 we pushed for – and won – the first employer-funded discount in Vancouver’s history, securing a 15% transit pass subsidy from eight hotel employers!
